your needs.

Course Summary

This course is designed to be a primarily ‘hands on’, scenario-based class. Students will receive a short review of the critical information needed to perform their mission as Primary Screeners. Following the review, REST staff will use an array of equipment to
navigate the students through simple and complex scenarios without being exposed to ionizing radiation, allowing for several hours of safe ‘meter time’.

Emergency Managers and Planners are welcome to attend these courses to familiarize
themselves with this vital mission; PRD certification or use is not required to attend.

Secondary Screener Mission Review

This course is intended for Responders who are already certified as FEMA-Trained PRND Secondary Screeners.

Important Note:
This course is intended for Responders who are already certified as FEMA-Trained PRND Secondary Screeners. For Responders who do not require that certification, please refer to the RIID Operations Course under the Emergency Response Tab for a class better suited to
your needs.

This in-depth, full day class is intended for Secondary Screeners who are assigned a RIID on a regular basis and could be requested to respond on short notice. The staff at REST will provide you with both the fundamental knowledge and best practices of RIID metering to
allow you to operate this critical instrument with confidence. Students will be presented with both basic and complex scenarios using a variety of live sources that will test your knowledge of isotopes, as well as provide you with resources to help you interpret the data
your meter is displaying. REST will provide students with a catered lunch.

Agencies who wish to send their Responders to this class will be expected to provide their own RIIDs and associated equipment; REST will not provide instruments for this course.

Emergency Managers and Planners are welcome to attend these courses to familiarize
themselves with this vital mission; RIID certification or use is not required to attend.

The staff at REST will provide you with both the fundamental knowledge and best practices of Backpack Operations to allow you to operate this critical instrument with confidence. Students will be presented with both basic and complex scenarios using a variety of live sources that will test your knowledge of detection, and if equipped, isotopes, as well as provide you with resources to help you interpret the data your detector is displaying.

Agencies who wish to send their Responders to this class will be expected to provide their own Backpacks and associated equipment; REST will not provide instruments for this course.

Emergency Managers and Planners are welcome to attend these courses to familiarize themselves with this vital mission; Backpack certification or use is not required to attend.

Audience:

Law Enforcement Personnel

Course Summary:

This course is designed to provide Law Enforcement Agencies and their personnel with an understanding of the impacts and response to a Radioactive or Nuclear Emergency from their unique perspective. Most LEAs do not issue or carry radiation detectors, making response to an this type of emergency especially dangerous, as Officers would have no way of knowing they are being exposed to high levels of radioactive energy. Participants will be provided with a basic understanding of radioactive energy and how to ensure their personal and community safety from this invisible threat.

Private Facility Safety

This course is designed to provide the private and corporate community with awareness of potential radioactive weapon attacks against high-profile private facilities as well as ideas to protect and respond to such an event.

Course Summary:

This course is designed to provide private and corporate facility management and their respective security cadre with an awarness level of understanding of the threats posed by radioactive weapons used to attack high-profile or high-value properties. Additionally, methods of protecting your facility to prevent this style of attack as well as best practices of how to respond should an emergency of this type should it occur will be discussed.

At the property manager’s reequest, REST Staff will also help facilitate the inclusion of the First Responders and Community Emergency Managers responsible for assisting your company for joint planning sessions.
