48th CST / Manatee County Large Area Radiation Exercise

Radiation Emergency Safety Tactics (REST) LLC conducted three days of Large-Area Radiation Emergency Response Exercises at the request of 48th Civil Support Team (CST) and the Southern Manatee County Fire Department. The exercise tested the region’s ability to detect, plan and safely conduct life safety operations in environment containing high levels of radioactive contamination.

The exercises were conducted using REST’s unique simulation training system that allowed us to provide participants with accurate readings on real survey meters over a 1 square-mile area. As units exited the contamination zone, they were requried to proceed through decontamination operations operated by combination of First Responders and National Guardsmen from the 48th CST.
