Audience: Whole-Community

This unique event is designed to provide the Whole-Community responsible parties with an in-depth understanding of the DHS Radiological Dispersal Device Response Guidance updated in November of 2025. It begins with a review of a region’s Emergency Response Plans to an RDD/RED Event, followed by a tabletop exercise and step-stone drills. Once any issues have been identifed and deconflicted, the course ends with a wide-area exercise only REST can deliver.

Day 1: Community member introductions, Emergency Plans review, Tabletop Exercise and Focused / Stepping-Stone Drills

Day 2: RDD Deployment Event over a 2.5 square mile area, conducted in real time.

All sources are simulated and no active radioactive sources will be utilized in public.

  • HazMat Technician is recommended, but not required

Course Summary:

This one-day event includes multiple hands-on Operational Drills providing participants with the opportunity to engage with working clandestine laboratories and their associated glassware at a facility of your choice. A mix of precursor chemicals, TICs, TIMs and CWAs will be identified with the technology currently employed on your apparatus. The day finishes with functional decontamination of live people contaminated with unknown chemicals.

No fake detectors, tablets or cell phones. No ‘imagine if you will’ or injects. Real readings on your equipment. Nothing is more realistic than that.

This drill day can be paired with our Chemical/Biological Emergency Operations or Pharmaceutical Based Agents courses at a reduced price.
